Sunday Serenity: Eye’s in the sky…

As a warm up for the next post on water and agriculture here’s a cool video about using satellite imagery to help us manage water usage.  As author and Future Thinker Sandra Postel said in her book, “The Last Oasis” the conservation of water is the Last Oasis for us here on Earth.

NASA does some amazing things and attracts a wide array of scientific characters and this video is no exception.  You’ve got a Jerry Garcia look-alike Harley biker and another guy who looks and sounds like a 1950’s Sex Ed newsreel narrator.  Regardless, the technology they have developed and are using is cutting edge and expands our sensory abilities to see, understand and take action on.

The word of the day for your Sunday Serenity is…  evapotranspiration.   Work it into a conversation today…use your imagination.  Make it sound naughty, it’ll get people’s attention.

Thanks to Lettersfromeurope for the link to NASA’s LandSat imagery projects.  Click on the link under the LandSat picture below.
